Being GDLK

So after what has felt like an eternity, LOS Garage, got some updated parts for GDLK. We decided to continue with the black and gold theme and have some parts 24K gold plated. It’s taken a long (understatement) time to get everything done and back to LOS. Within that timeframe we were able to install an EFI system on to the bike.

Since its Friday and we here at LOS Garage like to drop some music and lyrics for Lyrical Friday, we thought this song would set the mood for the post. In the end… we are pretty hyped about the final result. So without further adieu…

Yakuza Air

After a year riding around the met it was finally time to go under the knife. Took us about 4-5 months to figure out which direction we wanted go and the style we’re looking for. It was after we installed the air ride suspension in sonny fit we decided to pull the trigger on going VIP on the scooter. We haven’t really seen any scooter done up in VIP fashion so this will interesting. One of the reason we picked going this route is the body style of the bike, with all the body panels we think its a good candidate.

Front JISO forks have been modified internally to accept pressurized air. Everyone has done the rear, but very few have actually done the fronts. Been testing these out for some time now. I think its finally ready to be shown.

GDLK v2013

The weather has been finally warming up here in Chicago and that means LoS Garage is getting ready for the 2013 riding season.

GDLK has been sitting around just waiting for us to upgrade her. So this Sunday, we started on the GDLK version 2013 update!

Let the tear down begin! Continue reading

Less is More

Time to dust off the winter bug and start cracking again on the custom parts and builds. Right now is about -3 F here in Chicago which is pretty damn cold, but I wanted to come back to the CVT kit i installed on the Kaiju and actually do some weight inspection to see if there are any differences between the stock parts (bin pile) and the aftermarket kit.  We actually weighted the parts while we weighted the rollers. I might  as well find out what im putting in the bike.

Stock parts

New Ramps 115mm: 285g

Total weight: 426g

So from the looks of it Im saving about 30g of rotational mass in the CVT alone. I didn’t get to inspect and weight the Clutch bell housing, but I know for sure there was a lot of weight reduction on the aftermarket housing since its CNC. All of the weight  reduction being done on the CVT will help the bike rev faster creating a faster acceleration.

On another note we took the bike out in 30F weather to do a little photoshoot for a euro magazine. Here is a quick teaser and wallpaper if you need one, lol.
